The 99 Launch

People Pictures' 99 – Part Fact. Part Fiction. Pure Fun, the company's first filmi offering, was formally launched on September 1 at Shatranj Napoli, Versova. Produced by Anupam Mittal and Aditya Shastri, the film, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK and starring Kunal Khemu, Soha Ali Khan, Boman Irani, Cyrus Broacha, Simone Singh, Mahesh Manjrekar and Vinod Khanna among others.
Avers Anupam Mittal, "At People Pictures we wanted a film that is cool, stylish, genre busting in content and a pure entertainer. Our search ended with 99."
Adds Aditya Shastri, "Slick fast-paced, realistic and importantly, very funny, 99 is an original story inspired by real events. It is as much "what could have been" as it is "what really happened." In other words, it is historical fiction – fiction being the keyword."
99 is the story of two different men in two different cities, who are bound by a common feeling of always being stuck at '99'. They never seem to make it to a 'century'- figuratively speaking. It is a journey of two men who want to break away from the rut and 'strike it big'.
What follows is an unpredictable and hilarious ride through two cities with extremely likeable and very grounded characters, unbelievable circumstances, real twists of fate, small-time crooks, big-time conspiracies, fateful car crashes, ups of friendship, downs of love and a climax that will keep everybody on the edge of their seats."
The stars of the film, Kunal Khemu, Boman Irani, Soha Ali Khan, Cyrus Broacha, Simone Singh, directors Raj Nidimuro-Krishna DK and producers Anupam Mittal and Aditya Shastri besides a horde of celebs of the likes of Aanchal Kumar, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Suchitra Pillai, Varun Badola and a horde of celebs joined them in their celebration.
